Dearly
beloved in Christ,
I am very happy to introduce Rev. Mathew V. Paul,
the new vicar of the Parish. Achen hails from Ranny and Kochamma’s name is Ajiben. They have two children: Paulson and Achsah. Paulson will be in Std. V next academic year and Achsah is just three and a half years old. Achen had his theological studies at the South India Biblical Seminary, Bangarapet, for the Bachelor of Theology Degree and at the Kerala United Theological Seminary, Thiruvananthapuram, for the Bachelor of Divinity Degree. Ordained in 1994, achen has been successfully serving various parishes of the Diocese and, at present, he is looking after the CSI Parish, Vazhoor. We expect achen to be here by the second week of May.
The starting point of the apostolic proclamation of Christ is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Without this event, as Paul wrote to the Corinthians (I Cor.15:17), the faith of Christians is in vain. This does not mean that faith simply depends on the report of the resurrection of Jesus. The Easter faith of Christians is linked for all the time to the earthly history of Jesus of Nazareth. The resurrection is not an isolated event and it is inseparable from the earthly sending of Jesus and his death on the cross. By raising Jesus from the dead, God confirmed the claim that was implicit in the work of Jesus, namely, that the Kingdom of God was breaking in.
The message, mission, and life of the witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus clearly show that for the Easter witnesses, Easter was not a fixed and finished event of the past but an event which carries the present to the future pregnant with universal and world-changing hope.
The belief in the resurrection of Jesus remained linked to the expectation of the resurrection from the just (Luke 14:14), or of those who are related to Jesus by faith (I Thess. 4:14f cf.Rom.6:5). We get a general idea of a resurrection of all dead as a presupposition of the dispensing of judgment at the return of Christ (Acts24:15; John5:29; cf. Rev.20:12ff). The resurrection of Jesus is the anticipating of the fulfillment of human life and history. That is our faith! That is our hope!
